Second recipe, this was an interesting one…. :)

You know how  I have discussed food textures before, and I can’t eat foods that are slime? You know, things like bananas*, zucchini, eggplant, chokos, well they are all the slime foods. Well check this out:


Deliciously Ella Chia Seed Pudding –

Have you ever had chia seeds in anything? I have them in my bright purple berry smoothies all the time, they remind me of the seeds you would have in say, raspberry jam, but in a little pocket of goo. As we all know, lots of people are hurrah-ing over their goodness, their omegas, and their ability to reduce inflammation by sweeping through the system with their slime, which is activated once they hit liquid. And oh wow, their slime was abundant in this breakfast!!! This was almond milk, a bunch of chia seeds, cinnamon and honey, left overnight in my fridge to absorb all of the super yum deliciousness that is cinnamon, almond and honey, then topped with berries when I woke up.

Now the flavour this pudding had was AWESOME. It was exactly the right balance of all of the flavours. The berries could have done with more thawing, but I was marvin and I wanted to eat it before I ran off to teach Pilates. Also, I think mine hadn’t set as well as it could, I probably could have drunk it like a thick shake, I did leave some of it in the jar and just checked it before sitting down to write this, it has gotten firmer, so maybe make a couple of jars two days out and you would be set for breakfasts for a few days. Now back to the texture….. It was slime with little seeds in it. Great tasting, but since I’m such a textural eater it might have been a bit too much goo on one big hit. It needed some crunch. So I think next time I have it, I will pair half of it with her Banana and Almond Granola Clusters (doesn’t that just sound so so yum!!!) which I will be making on Friday 🙂

So there you have it 😀 I ate chia seed pudding ha ha ha ha ha


*disclaimer – yes I do sometimes eat banana, but it needs to be very thin slivers of only just ripe bananas, no slime 😀

P.S., Notice how many times I use the word slime. I am not messing around 😀


Day One Hundred and Thirteen: We have movement :)

So, the scales have moved. To the tune of a kilo and a half down. Ill take it 🙂

I haven’t been blogging lately, if you saw the list of things I have to do between now and the end of October, you may even be asking why on Earth I’m sitting here writing this right now…. the answer would be “because I miss it” 🙂

I haven’t done anything spectacular or innovative the past two weeks, just kept going along, drinking my smoothies and juices, eating my foods, same old same old. But Spring is here and there are super yum fruits coming, fresher yummer vegetables to buy, and my birthday is coming too. I may or may not post what I eat on my birthday, I haven’t decided yet ha ha ha I am having a ‘Daisy-style’ high tea with some of my friends. You will see what I mean by ‘Daisy-style’ later 😀 It’s going to be cute, full of cakes, and I’m really excited 😀 So until then, I’m on my best behaviour 😀 I have recently bought some digestive enzymes, which seem to be working slightly when I eat foods to lessen any problems I was having, and I’ll definitely be having a bucket full of them that day. Or I might surprise myself and just eat a few of the things I’m making, we will see ha ha ha ha

P.S this stuff is ENERGY CENTRAL!!!! Ive been having it most days in the morning, its such a pick me up, makes you feel better than any coffee in the morning ever will 🙂 Its just 75g frozen blueberries, 75g frozen raspberries, 1/2 a cup of oat milk, 1 cup of coconut water, and a tablespoon of black chia seeds. Awesome 😀 I know Ive posted heaps of photos of it before, but I can’t stress enough how good it makes you feel 😀 Oh, and super easy to make!!!!!!!

Day Fifty Two: So so so busy….

Wow, day 52 already? Time flies when you are flat out busy every day all of a sudden!! I apologise for the lack of posts lately, uni has started up again and for some reason I thought taking on 3 subjects this session would be a fun idea. I’m a crazy, crazy person :/ In the past week so many things have happened, never a dull moment around here.

First off, a sad thing, I have temporarily (but more likely for a pretty long time) shut down my hobby cake making business 😦 I love it, but I need to focus on my health and my family and my studies a lot more than I need to stay up until two in the morning covering the kitchen and myself in sugar. It makes me sad, but something had to go 😦

The second thing is, you know this cold I’ve had for 8 weeks? It’s not a cold. Not a surprise (my health issues just don’t surprise me anymore 😦 ), so have been referred to an ear throat and nose doctor to see whats going on inside those nose holes of mine to make me not be able to breathe all that well, and as of this week, hear either :/ I feel like I’ve been in the swimming pool and the water hasn’t cleared out of my ears, and I’m listening to the whole world with ear plugs in.

I had my anaesthetist appointment today too, all ready for day hospital on Tuesday to see whats going on in the belly. As I’m studying nutritional physiology this session I thought it might be cool if they actually record what you see on the cameras, getting that and having a look, but was told they only take photos of things of particular interest and it’s really quite boring. Boo. Would have liked to see whats on the inside!!!

So what else…. I haven’t lost any weight. I also haven’t been exercising, so not a real big surprise there. Am really feeling like it at times through the day, but then it gets to the time when I can actually do it and I’m wrecked and don’t. Need to work on that.

Food is ok, have been having a few sneaky things, but all in all its been ok. IMG_1055

This isn’t what I ate today, but I had this two nights ago, I love making the spring rolls soooooo much, and baking them in the oven is way better than grilling like I was doing, so good 😀 Who said you have to deep fry these things?

This is what I had today, amongst other things:


Raw cacao, stevia, loads of ice, oat milk, coconut oil, shredded coconut and coconut essence, my ‘Golden Rough’ smoothie 🙂

And this was my dinner tonight, its my ‘cheating’ meal where I get this Thai soup mix and just add veggies, its like 200 calories in total or something, probably too much sodium but Ive been lacking inspiration to cook lately and this takes seriously 4 minutes to make and doesn’t react badly with my belly, so that’s a huge plus 😀 Oh, and its super yum!!

Anyhow, I better get back to my microbiology book and lecture, these things wont learn themselves. Am thinking of starting a facebook page, I come across soooo many recipes and cool pages and stuff in my day, am thinking it might be great motivation for myself (and others) to keep going and especially in trying to reach my raw food goals eventually. I need a cool name, any suggestions?

Day Nine: What a find!!

So today a friend and I went into the next town to visit a wholefoods store that I haven’t been to before. I used to work in the health food shop in that town where we sold all of the bulk health foods like different flours and legumes and dried fruit and stuff, but they have gotten rid of all that cool stuff now, and this shop we went to today has picked up the market plus more. I loved it, best shop ever!! This was me:


I could have bought a million things, but thought Id better make a big list and get some jars before I go too crazy 😀 Got some rosewater to try a recipe out next week, a few not too bad sweet yums, and some chia seeds, which I intend on trying out later this week too 🙂

As I am still a bit under the weather I had a rest today, and may have forgotten to eat much until I got up, when I had 2 of the spring rolls I made last night, yum 🙂

For breakfast I still ate my 2 pieces of toast, plus lemon water, I am working on changing that to juice every day, on bubba school days it was just easier to eat what he had…… Continue reading
